The appointment of , as president on July 1, 2025, marks an exciting new chapter in New York Institute of Technology鈥檚 history. We are grateful for the vision and dedication of Henry C. 鈥淗ank鈥� Foley, Ph.D., who鈥攄uring his tenure as 蘑菇传媒鈥檚 fourth president鈥攕teered the university toward becoming the home of doers, makers, innovators, and healers.

Under Foley’s leadership, it became clear that 蘑菇传媒鈥檚 first priority is investing available resources and attention in its core business and ensuring the success of the students at its main campuses in the U.S. A series of 鈥淐ampus Conversations鈥� provided a wealth of information about how 蘑菇传媒 could achieve this while promoting the best work of its faculty and staff.

Working with the campus community, President Foley mapped out a broad vision for 蘑菇传媒 that will position the university as a leader among institutions in the New York metropolitan region, that is nationally and internationally recognized for the quality of its programs and the success it fosters among its students, faculty, staff, and alumni. Such recognition and distinction will be grounded in the practical, hands-on, and data-driven approaches to problem-solving in which every member of the 蘑菇传媒 community engages, whether it be in improving the human condition, or improving the quality and efficiency of services for faculty, staff, or students.

Under President Balentine鈥檚 leadership, 蘑菇传媒 will continue to build upon this foundation. Our community continues to work together shaping the future of 蘑菇传媒鈥攈onoring our legacy, embracing innovation, and leading with purpose.

The vision for 蘑菇传媒鈥檚 future focuses on several key areas that include:

• Improving retention and graduation rates and positioning our graduates for success.
• Increasing faculty scholarship and growing externally funded research.
• Creating environments that allow students to engage with each other and with faculty.
• Supporting cutting-edge teaching and learning, entrepreneurship and innovation, and collaborations among disciplines.
• Using artificial intelligence to transform education, increase knowledge accessibility, and boost student success.
• Centering academic programs to be centered around hands-on learning, critical creativity, and designing and making solutions rather than studying about them.

Our goal is to provide an outstanding student experience and become one of the best private institutions of higher education in metropolitan New York City and Long Island. With that in mind, our formal strategic planning process articulates an expanded set of institutional objectives in detail and devises plans to advance the institution鈥檚 vision. This process is participatory, well communicated, and understood by all.
