Honoring Our Veterans

Ģý is proud to serve veterans of the U.S. armed forces. We encourage veterans and their dependents to apply for educational benefits to help pay for Ģý tuition and assist with living expenses while enrolled at the university.

How to Apply and Receive Your Benefits

Remember to use code VTRN to waive the standard $50 application fee.

NOTE: To complete your 2024–2025 FAFSA, you can use the FUTURE Act-Direct Data Exchange (FA-DDX) to transfer your and your parent’s 2022 federal tax information to the FAFSA.

For the Summer 2025 semester and later, complete your 2025–2026 FAFSA using the FUTURE Act-Direct Data Exchange (FA-DDX) to transfer your and your parent’s 2023 federal tax information to the FAFSA.

The Federal School code (“Title IV” code) to enter on your FAFSA for New York Institute of Technology’s Long Island and New York City campuses is 002782.

Once you receive your Certificate of Eligibility from Veterans Affairs, forward a copy to Anna Girhart via email at agirhart@nyit.edu, fax (516.686.1074), or mail to the address below.

You will receive confirmation of your certification for veterans benefits once you’ve been accepted and enrolled at Ģý.

Once you have been admitted to Ģý, have your military transcripts sent to Ģý for prior learning credit review. 

You will be alerted by the Office of the Registrar when the Yellow Ribbon Program application process is open for Ģý students each semester. Application instructions will be provided via email at that time.
